Elevate+ Welcomes Alumna Cyreema Marshall as Organizational Effectiveness Consultant

Newark, NJ native and Emory University graduate returns to Elevate+ after two prior internships and continued leadership with the organization’s Role Model Series

Elevate+ is thrilled that Cyreema Marshall has joined the organization for the summer as an Organizational Effectiveness Consultant.

Marshall, a Newark, New Jersey native and 2025 graduate of Emory University, first joined Elevate+ as an intern in 2022 with The Discovery Orchestra and returned in 2023 for a second internship with HTTV. Her Elevate+ journey continued in 2024 and 2025, when she hosted the organization’s Role Model Conversation Series, facilitating conversations with professionals across a range of fields and helping current interns explore career paths, workplace skills, and professional identity. Elevate+ previously profiled Marshall’s development as an intern success story, highlighting her growth through placements with The Discovery Orchestra and HTTV, where she gained experience in organizational management, media production, video editing, and storytelling.

In her new role, Marshall will support Elevate+’s continued investment in stronger systems, clearer user experiences, and student-centered programming. Her summer work will include planning and facilitating three Role Model Series conversations, developing a student user guide for Elevate+’s internship application process in Neon, and creating a host partner user guide for organizations submitting internship opportunities through the platform. If time allows, she will also help prepare an administrator guide for Elevate+ staff.

“We are excited to welcome Cyreema back to Elevate+ in this new capacity,” said Andrew Walker, Executive Director of Elevate+. “Cyreema represents exactly what Elevate+ is working to make possible. She began with us as a student intern, built skills and confidence through meaningful paid work, continued contributing as a Role Model Series host, and is now helping us strengthen the systems that will support future interns and host partners. Her perspective as both an alumna and emerging professional is incredibly valuable.”

Marshall is currently studying at Birkbeck, University of London, where she is pursuing a Master of Arts in Film/Cinema/Video Studies. Her academic and professional interests build on the media production experience she developed during her Elevate+ internships, particularly her 2023 placement with HTTV, where she strengthened her video editing and storytelling skills. In Elevate+’s prior profile, Marshall credited the program with helping her build confidence, develop professional communication skills, and connect with mentors who supported her growth.

“Cyreema’s return also reflects an important part of Elevate+’s long-term vision,” Walker added. “We are not only placing students in summer roles. We are building an alumni community, creating pathways for continued leadership, and inviting former interns to help shape the experience for those who come next.”

An Intern's Perspective on Professional and Personal Growth
By Aguie Barrantes July 8, 2026
Walking into a networking event alone is not exactly comfortable. I didn't know anyone, and I wasn't sure I belonged there. But somewhere between the first conversation and the second, that feeling changed. This summer, as the Marketing & Communications Intern at Elevate+ , I've learned that internships are about much more than completing projects. Managing and developing the Intern Spotlight posts, creating social media content, and building a content calendar and other marketing materials, including this blog post, have strengthened my organization, creativity, and communication skills. My biggest takeaway has been that building a personal brand starts before anyone is watching . Outside of Elevate+, one of my professors from Seton Hall introduced me to the opportunity to attend a two-day networking event at Next League. While I was nervous at first, I reminded myself that growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone . Connecting with students and professionals across the sports industry showed there isn't one path to success. Alongside Elevate+, I’ve also balanced two other part-time jobs with FC Motown and Momento. Whether it’s working long hours in the summer heat or adjusting to unexpected changes during a live event, I’ve learned that success comes from being adaptable and thinking on the fly. These experiences have shown me that the most valuable growth happens when you’re willing to step up and show up , regardless of the circumstances. Looking back on the first half of the summer, I’ve realized that my biggest growth hasn't come from checking projects off a list. It's come from putting myself in unfamiliar situations, asking questions, and embracing opportunities that once felt intimidating . As I head into the second half of the summer, my goal is to be more intentional about following up with the professionals I meet. I've had the opportunity to connect with many people, but I want those conversations to turn into meaningful, lasting relationships. Showing up is only the first step; following up is what makes a connection memorable .
