Guidance for Preparing
Your Resume
A strong resume is clear, focused, and tailored to the opportunity you're pursuing. If your goal isn’t clear to you, it won’t be clear to a hiring manager either. Start by identifying the type of role you're seeking and the skills, experience, and education typically required.
Tailor your content.
Include only the roles and experiences that best demonstrate your ability to succeed in the position you’re applying for. You don’t need to list every job you’ve held—just the ones that are most relevant. Under each position, highlight the responsibilities and accomplishments that showcase transferable skills and impact.
Think like a hiring manager.
Your resume is not about what you want—it's about what you can offer. Every detail should connect back to the employer’s needs. When deciding what to include, ask yourself: Does this help the reader understand how I can succeed in this role?
